Delayed Gratification

Read Esther 4-6

Esther 5:8 "If I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to morrow as the king hath said."

When we are hankering for goodies but deny ourselves, we might end up consuming too many calories anyway. We might find ourselves eating and eating because we did not allow ourselves the one thing we really want.

We are trying so desperately to stick to our food plan, we don’t realize we are sabotaging ourselves. It might do us some good if we give in to cravings once in a while.

If we want a certain food, we might use delayed gratification to meet our need and keep from overeating. We might tell ourselves we will have the goody later and then later we can decide whether or not we still want it.
