Lying

Read Genesis 10-12

Genesis 12:18 "And Pharaoh called Abram and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife?"

We might be tempted to lie when we’re trying to lose weight. And there are plenty of things to lie about: how much we weigh, how much we’ve been eating, whether or not we’re eating what we’re supposed to be eating.

What difference could it make to the people we lie to? It doesn’t hurt them if we ate a whole bag of potato chips yesterday and don’t want to tell them about it.

But it can hurt us if we lie to ourselves. There will be consequences if we aren’t honest in private. Those calories will add up, even when we eat them in secret.

We don’t want lying to sabotage our weight-loss efforts.
