Bargaining

Read Genesis 22-24

Genesis 23:15 "My lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; what is that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead."

We’re tempted to try bargaining when we’re trying to lose weight. We’ll tell ourselves things like, “I’ll walk an extra mile tomorrow and have these brownies today.”

Then the next day comes and another temptation entices us to more negotiating. Plus we still have to make good on that extra mile we promised ourselves yesterday.

When weigh-in time comes, we wonder why we’re not making the progress we want to make. Then we remember all the haggling we did and know the reason why.

If we have to bargain with ourselves at times to keep from giving up completely, so be it. Slow progress is still progress.
