Fasting

Read Exodus 33-36

Exodus 34:28 “And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.”

People fast for several reasons. They might be trying to cleanse their bodies of toxins or they might be praying for an answer to a specific issue.

Fasting just to lose weight is not usually a good idea. We can get so hungry that we begin to eat everything in sight. Then we feel like failures for breaking the fast and feel guilty for the things we have eaten.
 
Also, there are many physical problems that prevent fasting or that fasting could make much worse. Fasting can help sometimes, but we need to proceed with caution.
