Self-Invited Guests

Read Luke 19-21

Luke 19:5 "And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house."

Most people wait until they are invited before coming to our home. They don’t want to impose or presume upon our hospitality.

Others are the drop-in types who come over when it’s convenient for them with no regard for what we might be in the middle of doing. The first time it happens, we will probably stop whatever we were doing in order to entertain and feed them, treating them to our warmest welcome.

However, when people begin to be regular self-invited guests and come too often, we may need another way to greet them. Putting them to work alongside us as we continue to do whatever we had planned to do that day before they interrupted us is one way to handle it.
