Proverbs 30:33 "Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife."
Few of us want to go back
to the days when the only way to get butter was to churn it ourselves. However,
there are times when knowing how to do things the hard way can come in handy.
For instance, when the
electricity goes off, it’s good to know how to prepare a meal without a stove,
oven, or microwave. And if we’ve ever had our area devastated by a natural
disaster, we know how important survival skills can be.
So visiting historical
places like Colonial Williamsburg or visiting an Amish community can be enlightening and
educational for those of us unfamiliar with the pre-technology way of doing
things. At the very least, we will leave those places with renewed gratefulness
for our modern conveniences.
