Matthew 3:4 "And the
same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his
loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey."
In all the diet books out
there, crazy or sensible, no one has ever proposed a diet of locusts and wild
honey. It doesn’t sound like John the Baptist could possibly get enough
nourishment to stay alive, let alone healthy.
Every few years another
directive comes out about what would make a healthy diet. It has gone from the
Basic Four Food Groups to a pyramid to a dinner plate.
The ratios may be adjusted
depending on the latest scientific data available at the time, but a healthy
diet needs vegetables, fruits, meat/protein, dairy, and bread. Even those of us
trying to lose weight will want to keep the food groups in mind when planning
calories, fats, and carbohydrates.
