Mark 7:4 "And when
they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other
things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and
pots, brasen vessels, and of tables."
How clean is clean enough?
We certainly want to wash pesticides off produce before we eat any of it to
prevent poisoning ourselves and loved ones.
Running dishes through a
dishwasher is supposed to clean and sanitize them, but sometimes food remnants
make it through the cycle and does not meet our definition as clean. Even water
spots that are harmless make the dishes look dirty, whether hand washed or run
through a dishwasher.
We do what we can to
insure we are eating from vessels that are clean and look clean. We make sure
the food is fit to eat and germs are absent or at least at a minimum.
