Victuals and a Reward

Read Jeremiah 40-42

Jeremiah 40:5 "Now while he was not yet gone back, he said, Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go wheresoever it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go."

Some of our strongest motivators may be food. If we deprive ourselves now, we hope that one day we will be able to eat as we please.

We might reward ourselves with a one-time treat. We might promise ourselves a brownie before we go to bed if we exercise and stick to our diet the rest of the day.

But victuals may not be good motivators for long. We may too easily find ourselves slipping back into the same food patterns that got us into trouble in the first place.
