Deuteronomy 8:3
"And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live."
When we have an eating
problem, we can lose our ability to recognize hunger. We have other prompts to
eat.
When we see food that
looks good, we want to eat and might not realize we’re not really hungry. We
follow our noses to find what smells so good and can’t wait to taste some of it,
even if we’ve recently eaten.
If we wait long enough
between eating sessions, real hunger will kick in. The trick is being able to
wait that long.
