Name Calling

Read Deuteronomy 25-27

 

Deuteronomy 25:10 "And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that hath his shoe loosed."

 

If anybody called you that today, it wouldn’t upset you. Even knowing what it means, it doesn’t have any sting.

 

But being called fat hurts. Being called names hurt us as children and still hurts now.

 

Sometimes it’s said with innocence, like a child making an observation. Sometimes it’s said as a diagnosis, like when a doctor is telling us we’re too fat. Fortunately, it’s something we can change.
